After refinishing the neck for my blonde "Mary Kaye"-type Jaguar build - I can finally tap the neck with new bolt holes, and check the neck alignment with a gold Bigsby B5 tremolo unit installed. This is already becoming a quite distinctive-looking build...
I can finally see well enough to drop some Creamery "Alt 88"Jaguar pickups into my Custom spec Fender "US Original '60's" Jaguar. I'm wiring them up with a "Johnny Marr" schematic, and I'm especially looking forward to testing out the additional "neck and bridge in series" combination.
Grounding a Fender Mustang Tremolo unit, and linking the running ground wire to the internal copper shielding on my Jagstang build...
A set of new, genuine Fender Jaguar shielding plates seems to be an impossible find here in the UK. Additionally - high shipping costs and import taxes means it's not exactly economical to specially ship sets in from the USA. So - why not make a set, myself, from scratch?
Shielding a Fender Jazzmaster body with copper foil together with the, more traditional, brass plates and "tub".
It might seem like overkill to some - but I want to properly shield my USA Custom Jaguar body with some copper foil. While I'm at it - I can sort out a few grounding issues
Shielding my Jazzmaster with a home-made brass tub might do the job in traditional style - but it's harder than it looks.
Fitting the scratchplate, is when the look of the guitar really starts to come together. But with the test fit - there's something not quite right...
Shielding the Hardtail's body with copper foil will create a contiguous ground. But I'll have to find a way to link it to that surface mounted bridge.
Swapping out the body of my Ash Stratocaster seemed like one of those tasks which needn't take too long. However - after a finishing process which took a couple of weeks from start to finish - I'm beginning to realise how much I missed it. And there's still a way to go... But it's beginning to look like it might well be worth the wait...
