Completing my third Premier 2000 snare drum. Fitting hoops, heads and snare wires onto another salvaged and wrapped shell (Yes – it turns out you can wrap a metal snare drum – but there are provisos).

Sometimes – that little replacement part you need is long out of production, and there are simply none to be had, at any price. But I’m not going to throw out old Premier dampeners – just for the want of a bit of felt and glue…

In taking on the restoration of a classic 1970’s Premier “2000” snare, I discover, once again, that where you think you’re heading to, isn’t necessarily an indication of where you’ll actually end up…
