A subtle restoration and revoicing of my old 1998 Fender Nashville Telecaster. Finally – it’s more of a TELECASTER – rather than a Stratocaster with a couple of Telecaster pickups. What’s more… it rocks!
Setting up my 1998 Fender Nashville telecaster after a little TLC, and a new switching modification
Fender Nashville Deluxe Telecaster. Installing the controls, and tone circuit. Wiring-in the pickups
Fitting a custom tone circuit on my Nashville Telecaster. Accommodating a neck/bridge pickup combination for the middle (3) switch position, and also incorporating a Fender TBX tone unit.
Re-installing the original pickups on my 1998 Fender Nashville Telecaster. This time with a replacement six-string bridge unit and a tidier, more logical, wiring layout
This new “Aged White” scratchplate looks far too pristine for this refurb job. I’ve previously paid to have custom plates aged by others, but having looked into how it’s actually done – I think I’ll save the money, and deal with this one myself.
With repairs and restoration on the neck and body complete – it’s time to begin the re-build. Most of the original components will be replaced, but some will be swapped out as upgrades, or as new replacements for worn parts.
Repairing damage to the neck pocket area – where an over-tightened neck plate has compressed the body wood, and split the polyester finish.
Some restorative work on the neck of my Nashville Telecaster. A light clean, some fret work and new upgraded tuners.
Sometimes – it’s only when you take a thing apart, that you get to take a really good look at what’s happening…
With progress slow on a few of my other projects – I have time for a refurb and reset on my Nashville Telecaster. Is it a Tele, trying to be a Strat? – or vice-versa?
This Nashville Tele has been my main electric guitar for so long now. But I’ve collected and built a few others, and so it sometimes stays in it’s case while some of the others get all the attention. I do tend to rotate the guitars I have to hand, and this one has recently seen a whole lot more play. But there have always been a few things about it that I wanted to change. Easy mods – and a setup into the bargain.
